CAS increased the period of Ineligibility Johaug and a half years. Norwegian will be able to return to the sport in April 2018, and thus will miss the entire current season, including the Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Johaug, the winner of the 2010 Olympics, was suspended from competition after her doping test gave a positive result. The Norwegian explained that illegal drug clostebol got into her body along with a lip cream, which she applied after the sun burned during exercise.
The Norwegian Olympic Committee took into account explanations of the athletes and came to the conclusion that she took the doping on purpose. The Norwegian Olympic Tribunal dismissed Johaug of 13 months, and the suspension allowed her to participate in the Olympics.
