Off the coast of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates broke out a massive fire on Board an oil tanker. On 29 January, reported Reuters.
It is noted that the tanker is approximately 35 km from the coast.
The Federal Department of transport UAE said that the work on elimination of a fire on the ship. Later, the Agency confirmed that the tanker was not loaded with oil and the incident may be related to error during maintenance.
According to FleetMon, the fire broke out on the tanker VLCC ZOYA 1, which is operated by the company from the UAE.
The ship is anchored at least 2018 due to financial and legal problems, including unpaid wages to the crew.
According to preliminary data, on Board the tanker was not one of the crew members. A fire could break out because of a gas fire in one of the tanks.
