More than 820 million people in the world faced last year with the problem of hunger and malnutrition, testified Monday the UN report.

“Estimated 820 million undernourished people in 2018. This figure is higher than in the previous year (2017 – if), then it amounted to 811 million people,” – said in a press release to the report published by several UN agencies, including the world health organization (who).

“Approximately one in every nine people in the world suffering from hunger”, – emphasized in it.

The press release notes that in 2016 the number of people in the world who suffer from hunger is growing every year.

The greatest concern for experts is the situation in Africa and in South Asia. According to a UN report, the Eastern part of Africa, more than 30% of the population are chronically hungry.

“In 2018 in Asia had 513 million people who are undernourished, in Africa, 256 million in Latin America and the Caribbean – 42 million”, – the report says.

In addition, the UN noted that last year every seventh baby in the world born with low birth weight.

The experts expressed concern about the problem of obesity in the world. According to the UN, there are about 670 million people suffering from this problem.

The authors of the report point to the need to maintain food and nutritional security, especially during economic crises.

“To maintain food security it is necessary to implement economic and social policies that will counter the effects of adverse economic periods,” the report said.
