RIO DE JANEIRO, March 2. /Offset. TASS Darya Yuryeva/. Former Brazilian footballer, Edinho (Cholbi Edson do Nascimento), who is the son of legendary football player Pele, was released from custody during the pendency of a new appeal in his case. About it reports TV channel Globo.

In the summer of 2014, Edinho was convicted of money laundering and links with drug trafficking. The court of first instance sentenced him to 33 years in prison. The defendant appealed the verdict, however, the result of the appeal was not the recognition of his innocence, but only a reduction of sentence from 33 years to 12 years and 10 months.

In 2005, he was rehabilitated in 2006, Edinho was in prison for six months for involvement in the drug trade, but then, the lawyers managed to prove his innocence.
