“I just texted with my friends, multiple Champions of the Olympic games and world Championships, a letter to the head of the IPC Parsons to allow up to the Paralympic games in South Korea in March 2018 my friend, the hero of our home of the Paralympics, six-time Paralympic champion Petushkova and his colleagues on the national team. You all know that athletes in cross-country skiing and biathlon Paralympic our team, all men are not given a chance to play the Games,” – wrote Plushenko.

“I, my colleagues, Irina Rodnina, Vladislav Tretiak, Alexander Karelin, Vyacheslav Fetisov, Mikhail Mamiashvili, Alexander Kozhevnikov, Alexei Nemov, Yelena Isinbayeva and Alina Kabaeva, Tatiana Navka, Svetlana Khorkina, Maria Kiselyov, Anton Sikharulidze, Tatiana Volosozhar, Maxim Trankov, Roman Kostomarov, Svetlana Zhurova, Alexey Zhamnov, Margarita Mamun, Angelica Timonina, Yulia Lipnitskaya and Adelina Sotnikova has won over his career with 41 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals. We, like anyone else, understand the pain and despair of the athletes, not mere athletes, and athletes with certain health problems. I could not pass up, all of my insides fight this injustice. I really hope and believe that the President of the IPC you will find the opportunity to give a chance to our guys to perform at the Paralympic games,” said Plushenko.

On 29 January, the IPC announced the extension of the disqualification of the Russian Paralympic Committee, which was imposed in August 2016 in connection with doping violations at the Games in Sochi. By reason of the suspension of the national Committee, the Russian Paralympic athletes at the Games in Pyeongchang, which will be held from 9 to 18 March, will be in neutral status. Following the meeting the RCC Executive Committee on 1 February approved the composition of the Russian delegation in the amount of 79 people. The Games will be held without the representatives of the men’s team ski racing because they did not have enough licenses.
