The Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko believes that there is no need to install a separate monument to those killed in the explosion in St. Petersburg metro the day before, instead, to establish a single sign in memory of those killed in terrorist attacks and disasters.

“You know, this issue occurs when there are such events. I believe that it is not necessary to put memorials everywhere, where these events took place, both on the roads in accidents with a fatal outcome. But my deep belief that our city should be to establish a single memorial sign to all victims of terrorist attacks, conflicts, natural disasters, accidents, catastrophes, where people can come and honor those who died, to remember loved ones who have gone,” he told reporters .

Earlier, after the terrorist attack in the Sinai Peninsula, the Governor expressed a similar proposal, but the place for such a sign and was not selected.

The explosion occurred on 3 April about 14:40 Moscow time in the train on the stretch between the stations of St. Petersburg metro station “Technological Institute” and “Sennaya Ploschad”. According to the head of the Ministry of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova, 14 people were killed, with another 49 in hospital.
