U.S. Secretary of state intend to focus on achieving the extension of the truce in Libya.

U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo arrived in Berlin, where he will participate in the international conference on Libya.

“I’m in Berlin for discussion with world leaders and UN officials issues related to the cessation of hostilities in Libya,” he wrote on Twitter.

Pompeo intends to focus on achieving the extension of the truce in Libya, the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country and the political process under UN auspices.

Commenting on Turkey’s decision about the direction of his troops in support of the Tripoli, the Secretary of state said that the US opposes any foreign intervention in the Libyan conflict.

In the conference on settling the situation in Libya, where after the murder of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, the chaos, and later actually established a diarchy, will take part – USA, Russia, UK, France, China, UAE, Turkey, Congo, Italy, Egypt, Algeria. Also invited representatives of the UN, EU, African Union and League of Arab States.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed issues related to the international conference on Libya.
