The participants of the “Normandy format” discussed the agenda for future meetings of the leaders of the Quartet.

The leaders of Ukraine, Germany and France during yesterday’s telephone conversation, agreed to propose the agenda for the summit “Norman format” to discuss the “road map” of implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said at a briefing during an official visit to the Republic of Latvia.

“Yesterday, during a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Hollande, we agreed that initiate or propose the agenda for the summit “Norman format” we must strongly enforce and implement the Minsk agreements and to discuss a road map for the implementation of this process”, – said Poroshenko .

He added that is grateful to our European partners for their willingness to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation as an effective mechanism of motivation of the Russian Federation to honor their commitments when signing the Minsk agreement obligations, if Russia “does not demonstrate its readiness to cease fire, their willingness to enter bezopastnosty package”.

In this context, the President of Ukraine reported that today the chief of the General staff and the defense Minister told him that after the announcement initiated by Ukraine’s Easter ceasefire, unfortunately, was not a day when this regime was followed by the Russian side.

“1 and 2 April we have seen a reduction in the use of heavy artillery and mortars. Unfortunately, yesterday we saw a sharp escalation: the number of attacks compared to the 1-2 of April increased three times, during a mortar shelling of Ukrainian military was lost, actively used small arms”, – noted Poroshenko.
