The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, during which the parties emphasized the priority of implementation of the Minsk agreements in terms of security and condemned the attack on the representatives of the OSCE, the press service of the President of Ukraine.
“The two leaders discussed the situation in the Donbass, noting the priority of implementation of the security component of the Minsk agreements. The President of Ukraine stressed the inadmissibility of any demonstrations of the technique under the guise of “parades” in the occupied territories 9 may,” – said in a statement on the official website of the President.
Poroshenko and Merkel also stressed the need for the release of hostages .
During the discussion of the situation with the work of the Special monitoring mission of OSCE in the East of Ukraine, the parties noted and condemned the attack on employees of the OSCE and systematic obstacles to their work.
“They stressed the importance of investigation and punishment of those responsible in the attack on the patrol of the OSCE 23 April,” the statement reads.
Merkel told Poroshenko about the results of conducted it in Moscow on may 2 talks.
“The head of Ukraine and Germany stressed the need to continue in the Normandy format, particularly with the participation of the newly elected President of France. They also agreed to chart the future of bilateral meetings at the highest level”, – said in the message.
