News of Ukraine: Petro Poroshenko and Mike Pompeo discussed the strengthening of cooperation in the field of security and the continuation of sanctions against Russia to release Ukrainian hostages.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo during a telephone conversation discussed the strengthening of cooperation in the field of security and the continuation of sanctions against Russia to release Ukrainian hostages, reported the press service of the Ukrainian President.

“The sides discussed the strengthening of cooperation in the field of security and defense. The President thanked the American side for granting Ukraine anti-tank missile complexes “javelin”, – stated in the message press service, published on the official website of the President.

They also discussed the challenges for security in the implementation of the project “Northern stream – 2” .

In addition, Poroshenko noted the importance of further sanctions against Russia for the release of all Ukrainian hostages and the parties coordinated positions in the context of the pronouncement of the findings of the investigation the crash of flight MN17.

Ukrainian President informed the US Secretary of state M. Pompeo on the progress of reforms in Ukraine in the context of cooperation with the International monetary Fund, including the formation of effective anti-corruption infrastructure.

It is also reported that Poroshenko M. Pompeo was invited to visit Ukraine.
