The national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) intends to consider the concept of reforming the security Service of Ukraine. This was during a speech to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the SBU, said the President Petro Poroshenko.

“Soon, the Council will consider the concept of reforming the SBU using best practices of countries-members of NATO. It is assumed that individual functions of the SBU is not inherent in the classical special services will be gradually transferred to other law enforcement agencies”, – he said.

Did he elaborate on what the functions under consideration . “So, NEB,, state Bureau of investigation, the national police will gradually go investigate some official crimes and crimes committed by organized criminal groups. SBU is and remains the main counter-intelligence organ of the state and this component of the Service should be raised higher as required by the real external threats to Ukraine”, – convinced the head of state.
