Sunday, may 7, in Kiev, officially opened the international song contest “Eurovision – 2017”. In this regard, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko made an appeal to Ukrainian citizens.

In his speech, the Ukrainian leader called “the Eurovision” the world’s most famous musical contest, according to “Russian conversation”.

Poroshenko recalled the history of the competition, noting that Ukraine joined the Eurovision song contest much later than other European countries, but for the second time hosts the festival on its territory.

The President of Ukraine reminded about Ruslana’s victory in 2004, and the triumph of Jamala on last year’s competition, and wished good luck to all the contestants that in the coming days will perform at the Kyiv stage.

“Whatever country won the competition, it will become a celebration of European values, of European unity and solidarity”, – said Poroshenko .

We will remind, “the Russian Dialogue” reported that today in the Ukrainian capital will be held the official opening ceremony of “Eurovision – 2017”. The start of the celebrations is scheduled for 17:00.
