News of Ukraine: Petro Poroshenko is confident that NATO is the only instrument of ensuring global security.

President Petro Poroshenko is convinced that in modern conditions the Alliance is the only instrument of ensuring global security in the world.

He stated this in the program “Svoboda words” on ICTV channel, a UKRINFORM correspondent reported.

“We have to date, the UN security Council in the current environment is not a tool of global security. What do you have? There is only one tool. It remains only to NATO,” – said the Head of state.

This opinion he explained that the UN security Council veto is an aggressor country – Russia.

However, Poroshenko expressed confidence that the countries-members of NATO will not withdraw from the Alliance.

“The world is changing. The world is becoming more selfish . The leaders put on the forefront of the defense of their country in the understanding of this protection by the leaders. But I want to emphasize that we had a lot of examples when countries were even left from the NATO, was returning members of NATO – Greece, France and other countries. I am sure that now this will not happen and can not happen”, – said Poroshenko.

He stressed that in order not to leave NATO countries motivates the activities of Russian President Putin in the world. As an example the President cited the fact that Germany took the decision to increase defense spending after the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia.

However, the President stressed that the results of the NATO summit last week, it is obvious that the countries-members of NATO are not going to listen to Russia or to “give the right of Russia to” stop the Ukrainian movement towards NATO.
