As reported by the Kremlin on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the world’s first woman-cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova with his 80th birthday.
In 1963, Tereshkova
flew into space on the spaceship “Vostok-6”. Out of the Earth she spent
almost three days and still is the only woman who made
space mission alone.
After retirement she
continued political career, becoming a member of the lower house of the State Duma
Of the Russian Federation.
“Starting with Your
legendary flight into space, You have always been for us an example and a symbol
service to the Fatherland, and in different places, at different positions, and now
continue to work in the State Duma”, – said Putin.
During his meeting with
President Valentina Tereshkova was presented to the high state
the award – the order “For merits before Fatherland” the first degree .
