Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the public in the fields of the Eastern economic forum, according to “Russian conversation”.
During the discussion, the Director of the Maritime training Centre “Seven oceans” Anatoly Shtanko touched upon the disputed Kuril Islands and said that the stories mention different date associated with the status and belonging of the Kuril Islands.
In response, the Russian leader stressed that by the end of the Second world war, the Kuril Islands came under the control of the Soviet Union, and proposed to rely on this historical fact. In the context of this question, Putin also referred to the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, calling him “Papa.”
