Castro announced his intention to leave the presidency of Cuba in 2018.

The head of the state Council and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro said that in April of 2018 will leave its post, reports RIA Novosti.

“When the national Assembly of people’s power is established, ends my second and last mandate as head of state and government, and Cuba will have a new President,” he said.

According to Castro, the stay of one person in an important government positions should be limited to two terms.

Earlier, the Assembly decided that the election of the new composition and the head of the state Council of Cuba will be held on 19 April 2018.

The head of Cuba’s 86-year-old Castro Jr. was in 2008, prior to that, he spent two years acting head of the state Council of Cuba after the resignation of his older brother Fidel.
