TASS, July 30. The offender who attacked with a knife on foreign tourists in the Egyptian resort town of Hurghada, was a supporter of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia). This was reported by Reuters with reference to sources in security.

Earlier, the Governor of the Egyptian province of the Red sea, Ahmed Abdullah said that “the attack on tourists in Hurghada is an individual act.” “It happens in all countries of the world,” he explained. On 15 July the representative of the Supreme Prosecutor’s office of the state security of Egypt, which transferred jurisdiction of the case about the attack on foreigners, stated that “the motives and circumstances of the crime, which resulted in the killing and wounding foreign tourists, it is still not clear.” In a statement, the Ministry also noted that currently, it turns out, “was it the attack of individual action, criminal act, terrorist attack, or even any kind of crime.”
