GLASGOW /UK/, 4 Aug. /TASS/. The Russian women’s team gymnastics took first place in the team competition at the European Championships, which takes place in Glasgow.

Angelina Melnikova, Irina Alekseeva, Juliana Perebinossoff, angelina Simakova and Lily Abaimova scored a total of 165,195 points. Second place was taken by sportswomen from France (161,131), third were Dutch (159,563).

Competitions in gymnastics are held in the framework of the joint European championship and summer Olympic sports. In the United tournament, the Russians won seven gold medals . Earlier victories Anastasia Voinova and Daria Shmeleva (track, team sprint), men’s relay Quartet (swimming, 4×100 freestyle), Svetlana Kolesnichenko and Barbara Subbotina (synchronized swimming, technical routine duets), Alexander Maltsev and Maya Kurbanberdi (synchronized swimming, technical routine mixed duets), Russian team in synchronized swimming in group exercises, Ekaterina Potapova, Anastasia, Tikhanova, Ekaterina Sevastyanova Elena Arabiska (rowing four-oar without a rudder).

First joint European Championships in summer Olympic sports is played with 2 to 12 August in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Berlin. It includes tournaments in swimming (Glasgow, August 3-9), diving (Edinburgh, August 6-12), synchronized swimming (Glasgow, 3-7 August), open water swimming (Glasgow, 8-12 August), track (Glasgow, 2-7 August), mountain-bike (Glasgow, 5-12 August), mountain bike (Glasgow, 7 August), Cycling-BMX (Glasgow, Scotland, August 10-11), Golf (Glasgow, August 7-12), gymnastics (Glasgow, 2-12 August), rowing (Glasgow 2-5 Aug), triathlon (Glasgow, August 9-11) and athletics (Berlin, 6-12 August).
