PERM, December 21. /TASS/. JSC “Russian Railways (RZD) in January 2018, will begin design of the North railway bypass Perm, said Thursday in a press-service of administration of the Governor of the Perm edge following the results of meeting the head of the region Maxim Reshetnikov, Deputy Director of RZD Oleg Tony.

“On Monday, the Board of Directors of Russian Railways approved investment programme to 2018 and takes into account the costs of design and development of the Perm railway junction. I am sure that in January we will start designing the (North bypass Perm – TASS). The main thing for us now is to define the project plan of this route and go together with the edge to the design of the earth and all of the documents that will allow time to build” – quoted Oleg Tony, the press service of the administration.

According to Reshetnikov, the decisions are now taken by the regional government and the Railways, “strategically important, they will determine the way the economy in the region for the next 20-30, maybe 50 years.”

Earlier it was reported that the cost of construction of the North railway bypass Perm will amount to 15.7 billion rubles. According to the railway company, the project includes the construction of a single-track railway bridge across the Kama and double-track electrified bypass with a length of 25 km. currently, Railways is preparing a feasibility study of the project.


This fall, the Perm region and Russian Railways have agreed on the transfer of railway running along the left Bank of the Kama river along the Central part of the city of Perm, on the opposite shore for the liberation of urban space. Perm stretched for 70 km along the left Bank of the Kama, but only a 2 km promenade, the rest of the territory is occupied by factories and the railroad. For the improvement of the waterfront and with the approach of the 300th anniversary of Perm (will be celebrated in 2023) the regional authorities propose to transfer the 20-kilometer railway from the left Bank of the Kama river on the right, which will create new urban space. The project of relocation of the railway was supported by the Russian President Vladimir Putin during a trip to Perm on 8 September.

According to Reshetnikov, the remainder of the waterfront area is planned to provide public transport for interfacing of transport hubs of railway station Perm-2 and Motovilikhinsky district of the city, located on the left Bank of the Kama. After construction of the new combined rail and road bridge over the Kama river around Perm it is planned to construct Northern bypass of the city. This bridge, as previously reported by Reshetnikov, would also allow skipping the growing flow of goods with new potash deposits in Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm region).

As noted by the representatives of the Sverdlovsk railway, the project of development of the Perm railway junction is interconnected with the modernization of the direction of the Perm – Solikamsk and reconstruction of the infrastructure of Berezniki-Solikamsk hub, where by 2025 the projected increase of loading of 58% to 2016. On the development of this area in the 2017-2025 years RZD plans to invest 13.7 billion rubles.
