The security service of Ukraine (SBU) asked to not use the Russian postal services in the registration of domain names with the aim of preventing harm to information security of Ukraine, according to the Internet Association of Ukraine with reference to the corresponding letter intelligence agencies.
In a letter to the Department of counterintelligence protection of state interests in the field of information security SBU addressed to the Internet Association of Ukraine 13 June 2017, which is published on the website of the Association, reported that during the implementation of activities aimed at ensuring information security of the state, the violations of the current legislation of the owners of the domain name in the zone “*ua”, “*Ukr”, including “gov.ua”.
“In particular, to control domain names used by the postal services of the Russian companies “Yandex” and “Mail.ru” in respect of which special restrictions imposed in accordance with the presidential decree No133 15.05 .2017 “On the Decision of the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine of April 28, 2017 “On the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”, – stated in the letter of the SBU.
Therefore, in SBU ask to prevent harm to information security of Ukraine, to spend explanatory work with domain name registrars on the restriction of the use of the Russian postal services in the registration and management of domain names, according to the regulation “On the blast furnace Committee of the Internet Association of Ukraine” dated 28,05,2013.
