“Cybercrime poses a very serious threat, and no country can alone protect themselves. Need to establish an international mechanism to counter these threats,” – said Matvienko on Wednesday in SF.
She also noted that the site of SF not injured during attacks on Tuesday. “Information systems of SF, our site, work smoothly, this suggests that they are protected,” she added.

“Kiberataki affected almost all countries and, along with such challenges as terrorism is today, cybercrime, these attacks affecting information systems pose a very serious threat,” – said Matvienko.

“Yesterday at the first meeting of the interim Commission of the Federation Council for the prevention of interference in the internal Affairs of the Russian Federation was articulated figures that the attack of hackers from Russia on the U.S. computer system, it is only 2% (of the total number of cyber attacks on the USA approx. TASS), and cyber attacks on the information system of the Russian Federation from the territory of the United States is about 29-30 percent. But this does not mean anything because you can sign up now anywhere. Therefore, we can only work together to deal with these threats,” she said.

About the cyber attack

Tuesday was fixed large-scale cyber attack on companies in Russia and Ukraine. According to preliminary data of Group-IB (deals with the prevention and investigation of cybercrime), virus-cryptographer Petya was attacked by about 80 companies, including “Rosneft”, “Bashneft”, Mars, Nivea and Mondelez.

Cases of infection have also been observed in Poland, Italy, UK, Germany, France and the United States. As reported today in the “Kaspersky Lab”, only the number of users attacked by a new virus-cryptographer, has reached 2 thousand. The specialists are dealing with a new malware exPetr, only indirectly related to the virus-the extortioner Petya.

Petya blocks computers and does not start the operating system. For resume and decrypt the files it demands a ransom of $300 in bitcoins.
