PYEONGCHANG /South Korea/, February 9. /TASS./ Russian figure skater Mikhail Kolyada took eighth place in the short program in the team Olympic tournament. The games are held in South Korean Pyeongchang .

Russian figure skater Carol held their first training session in South Korea

A Christmas Carol scored for the short program 74,36 points. Finishing in eighth place, the Russians brought in a coin box of the Olympic athletes from Russia three points. A Christmas Carol, which is a two-time bronze medalist of the European championship for the first time in his career taking part in the Olympic games.

The first place was occupied by the Japanese SEMA UNO scored 103,25 points. The second was the Israeli Alexei Bychenko (88,49), the third – the triple world champion canadian Patrick Chan (81,66). American Nathan Chen, who this season won the finals of the Grand Prix series and four continents Championships, fourth place (80,61).

Carol failed to meet the first two jumps (Lutz and a quadruple toeloop). Then the Russians blew off the third jump (Axel), making only a half turn. After speaking to Carol, refused to communicate with journalists. Clean all jumps performed only UNO and Bychenko, Chan fell twice, Chen once.

Japan’s national team, scoring 10 points in the lead in the team tournament. Followed by Israel (9 points), Canada (8) and USA (7), Olympic athletes of Russia took the eighth place. For the first place in each event the team gets 10 points, second place nine, third place eight, and so on. For the 10th place team earns one point.

Later on Friday in the framework of the team competition short program will show sporting a pair. Free program for men will be held on February 12, then completed the team tournament.
