Washington imposed sanctions against two employees of the regional Investigative Committee in Surgut, forbidding them entry to the territory of the United States. We are talking about the head of the regional investigative Department Vladimir Ermolaev and senior investigator Stepan Tkach, according to “Russian conversation”, citing the foreign Ministry of the USA.

The U.S. side accuses them of involvement in torture and violations of the rights of followers of the religious organization “Jehovah’s Witnesses” (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia – ed.).

The state Department calls on Russia to stop the “unjust campaign” against “Jehovah’s Witnesses” and the release of more than 200 individuals who currently are in custody.

The news of the sanctions against the Russian investigators said the TV host Vladimir Solovyov.

“Perhaps this is the mysterious message of the day. Imagine the reaction of the Surgut investigators : know! And in Washington know ours! Behold the Glory!” – the journalist wrote in his telegram channel.

Recall that the state prohibition of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” accused Russia of persecuting religious minorities.
