Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip discussed with the special representative of Ukraine in the process of Transnistrian settlement Viktor Kryzhanivsky the impact of the political crisis in Moldova on the security of the region.
As reported on the website of the Moldovan government, the meeting took place on 12 June. The interlocutors exchanged views on the political situation in Moldova. “They noted that the current political crisis could potentially destabilize the security of the region”, – stated in the message.
The parties stressed the importance of maintaining the constitutional order and the rule of law in Moldova, stressing that solutions to the current blockade in the Republic of Moldova can be found only through dialogue between the political forces to the negotiating table.
Also, according to the Internet portal Hromadske.ua, Kryzhanivsky became the first foreign official who met with representatives of the former government after the appointment of new Cabinet of Ministers headed by Maia Sandu.
As reported, the Parliament of Moldova has approved the composition of the new government and declared the country a “captured state”, which should be free. This happened after the constitutional court ruled that the President is obliged to dissolve the Parliament and appoint the date of elections, as within 90 days after approval of the election results, the Parliament failed to form a new government.
The party of socialists and the right-wing bloc ACUM believe that the allotted time has not expired, since the Constitution refers to the period of three months, not 90 days. On Saturday, they signed an agreement on “deoligarchization” Moldova, then called a meeting of Parliament.
As reported, the leader of right-wing “Action and solidarity” Maia Sandu was appointed by the Parliament on 8 June, Prime Minister of Moldova. However, the constitutional court recognized the decision of the Parliament illegal. The court on June 9 on the suspension from office of the President Igor Dodon, giving former Prime Minister Pavel Filip powers to dissolve Parliament. He immediately signed the decree about dissolution of Parliament and purpose of date of early election on September 6.
