MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Arena “Olimp-2” in Rostov-na – Donu can be renamed after the world Cup 2018 in honor of the champion of Europe of 1960 Victor Monday. About this TASS said a source close to the leadership of the region.
“The name of the stadium “Olympus-2″ it is impossible to change before the world Cup, as the arena stated to FIFA. It is planned that at the end of the world championship the stadium will be named after the famous Soviet football player Victor Monday. One of the biggest investors in Rostov region is ready to allocate 20 million rubles,” – said the source.
Stadium “the Olympus-2” in Rostov-on-don holds almost 16 million viewers. The name arena is 2007. The 2018 world Cup “the Olympus-2” will be used as a training ground for one of the national teams.
Known in the past footballer is a native of Rostov-na-Donu . Almost his entire career he had, speaking for the “Rostselmash” and SKA Rostov, for which he played more than 200 matches. In the USSR national team striker became the champion of Europe – 1960, silver medalist of the European championship of 1964. On may 22, Victor Monday will be 80 years old.
