The return match between Australia and Syria, which took place in Sydney, ended with the score 2:1. The first match brought a draw with the score 1:1.
The Syrians opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the match. The goal was scored by Omar al Soma. The 0-1 scoreline lasted only a few minutes on the 13 th minute goal scored on a Tim Cahill.
In the main time the team failed to score more goals and the match ended in extra time. Already in the fourth minute of the first period the Syrians were in the minority — the red card received Mahmoud al Mavas .
