KRASNOYARSK, April 21. /TASS/. Temporarily fulfilling duties of the head of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov proposed to introduce a tourist tax with the rest on lake Baikal for the preservation of the environment. He stated this at the Krasnoyarsk economic forum.

“As an experiment to introduce a tourist or resort fees: the same cleaning after guests, especially tourists disorganized, requires some income,” – he said, speaking at the site, with the theme “New regional policy”.

Tsydenov recalled that in Buryatia on the Eastern shore of the Baikal lake attracts about 1 million tourists a year. “This is, first and foremost, the informal tourist. Come, for example, guests from neighbouring Mongolia, which themselves in their cars come on shore, resting, packing up and leaving. Income no. Only the load on the environment, on local communities . The revenue part is not formed in principle, because this is the wild tourism,” Tsydenov said.

Earlier this theme was expressed by the Chairman of the Presidium of Buryat scientific center of Siberian branch of RAS academician Boris Bazarov. According to him, specific measures for the conservation of the ecological situation on lake Baikal can be expressed in the travel collection, the arrangement of seats for guests, getting rid of the wild tourism.

The scientist said that the great length of the coast of lake Baikal is more than 2 thousand km, in Buryatia for the implementation of the proposed measures “control must be set on the territory of only 200 km.”
