American Missouri became the first state in the country, which filed a lawsuit against Beijing in connection with its response to the coronavirus, which emerged in Wuhan at the end of December 2019, and since then has infected more than 2.5 million people worldwide, writes The Hill.

The lawsuit was filed by the attorney General Eric Schmitt.

“The Chinese government lied to the world about the danger and transmissibility COVID-19… Beijing did nothing to stop the spread of the coronavirus,” reads the lawsuit.

It is also noted that the infection had caused irreparable damage to countries throughout the world, causing illness, death, economic dislocation and human suffering.

Missouri requires Beijing to repair the damage.

China in turn has rejected accusations of the state, calling them “useless statements American legislators”.

“The international community will win the virus only if it will be able to unite and cooperate. Discredit other countries is just a waste of time and can not save the victims,” – said the representative of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China Geng Shuang.
