Business news: the Cabinet has sent 253 million hryvnias for construction of a runway at the airport “Odessa”.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its meeting Wednesday decided to send 253 million UAH for the construction of the runway (runway) at the international airport “Odessa”, reported on the website of the Ministry of infrastructure with reference to its head Volodymyr Omelyan.

“MEW initiated the allocation of additional funds for work at the airport of Odessa. In may of this year, I was inspecting the progress of construction of the runway in 2019, upgraded airport, I am certain will turn Odessa in the South hub. For the third consecutive year dynamics of growth of air traffic by almost 30% per year requires modernization of the airports, and we’re working on it” – quoted in the Ministry of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyana .

The Ministry noted that the construction of the new runway will allow to accept the heavier types of aircraft, including the Boeing 767, which will contribute to the increase in passenger traffic doubled. Bearing capacity of the new runway will be almost 2 times more than existing (classification number of coating ability (PCN) is a new strip 64 against the existing 35).

The project also plans to install lighting, radio navigation and meteorological equipment for the certified approach category III a (ICAO) (the current runway is certified for category I (ICAO).

As reported previously the Ministry forecasted the completion of the reconstruction of the runway of the international airport “Odessa” in 2019.

In April 2018, the press service of the Specialized anticorruption Prosecutor’s office announced that the Solomensky district court of Kiev has transferred real estate to the international airport “Odessa” and 75% of the shares of the company that owns LLC “Odessa international airport”, in the management of the National Agency of Ukraine concerning detection, investigation and asset management (ARMA).

These actions were carried out within investigation of criminal proceedings upon abuse of official position by officials of the Odessa city Council and LLC “Odessa airport development” (part 3 of article 28, part 2 St. 364 criminal code of Ukraine).
