The government of Ukraine intends to extend until 31 December 2018 inclusive the rates of import duty in respect of import of goods, the country of origin is the Russian Federation, introduced in early 2016 in response to the appropriate trading prohibitions and restrictions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

The relevant draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers included in the agenda of the government meeting Monday, according to materials available to the Agency “Interfax-Ukraine”.

As reported, according to the decision of the government of Ukraine of 30 December 2015, 2 January 2016 to all goods originating from Russia, applied rates of import duty established by Customs tariff of Ukraine. With the preferential treatment towards Russia (free trade) is repealed .

According to the decree adopted in December 2015, the decision of the government of Ukraine “expires December 31, 2016 or after the termination of the violation by the Russian Federation of the Treaty on free trade zone dated 18 October 2011”.

At the end of 2016, the Cabinet has extended the effect of import duties in 2017.
