The US President offered to answer some questions on “the deal of the century”.

The world cautiously responded to the idea of trump for the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Diplomats check whether the plan of the President of the United States with previous international agreements, reports dw.com.

Foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Wt (Heiko Maas) stated the need to clarify issues in connection with the plan of U.S. President Donald trump on the creation of a full Palestinian state. “This, in particular, questions about the involvement of the conflicting parties in the negotiation process and how this proposal correlates with the recognized international framework and legal basis”, – reads the statement of the IAU, published in the night of Wednesday, January 29, on the website of the German foreign Ministry.

The EU also intends to “review and evaluate” the offer trump, said EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell. He stressed that the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is only possible within the concept of two States taking into account the “legitimate demands of the Palestinians and the Israelis”, as well as all the “important UN resolutions and internationally agreed aspects.”

The UN in favour of Israel and Palestine in the 1967 borders

The UN also cautiously reacted to the idea of the President of the United States. The representative of the UN Secretary General , antónio Guterres, noted that the organization adheres to the position developed over the years in the resolutions of the security Council and the UN General Assembly. According to them, the establishment of two States – Israeli and Palestinian – should be made “on the basis of the 1967 borders”.

In turn, Deputy foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov indicated that it is unclear whether trump’s plan “acceptable to both sides.” And the Turkish foreign Ministry called the idea of an American President “a plan for the annexation and seizure of Palestinian territories.”

Trump’s plan for Palestine

28 Jan Donald trump announced his plan on settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He advocated the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem. At the same time, the US President declared that Jerusalem will remain “undivided capital” of Israel. Presumably, we can talk about the agreement on the joint right of use of the territories in East Jerusalem.

The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu who, during the announcement of the peace plan stood by trump, called the proposal a “realistic way” to achieve long-term peace in the region. However, the head of the Palestinian national authority (PNA) Mahmoud Abbas and the head of the political Bureau of the radical Islamist movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh has strongly rejected the plan of trump.
