The head of delegation of European Union to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli said that the mission expects to receive from the Ukrainian authorities detailed information on the decision of the Council of national security and defence from 15 March to stop the transportation of goods through the line of differentiation on Donbass and its implementation on March 16.

“In the coming hours, I think we will receive information from the Ukrainian authorities and it will allow our political leadership in Brussels to form a position in relation to this decision,” he told reporters before the 13th Dragon Capital Ukraine Investor Conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

H. Mingarelli noted that the representative of the EU asked the Ukrainian authorities to provide further information regarding this decision, the Council and this information should be provided Thursday, March 16 .

According to him, previously, the EU condemned the blockade by the activists of the movement of goods on the uncontrolled territory of Donbass.

Speaking at the conference, H. Mingarelli said the EU delegation was surprised by yesterday’s decision of the Council, as has been repeatedly insisted on the implementation of inclusive approach that would reduce the suffering of the population in the uncontrolled territories and formed the conditions for reconciliation in the case of a political agreement.

“Yesterday’s decision in this direction does not go”, – stated the head of the EU delegation.

At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian government is forced to respond to new conditions in the form of seizure by separatists of assets in the uncontrolled territory, and once again said that its position, the EU will publish after receiving all information.

H. Mingarelli stressed that the alternative to the Minsk agreements, the EU does not see, though disappointed with the execution of this process staying in the past few months.

According to him, no alternatives to the Minsk agreements, the EU continues to insist on compliance by all parties with the commitments.

The head of mission also expressed hope that the conditions for the holding of local elections and implementation of the political agreements will be established in the near future with the implementation of conditions on the withdrawal of weapons.
