Launch of a ballistic missile by North Korea violates the international obligations of the DPRK, set forth in several resolutions of the UN Security Council, said the official representative of the European foreign service (EVS).

“We expect that the DPRK would refrain from any further provocative actions that could increase regional and global tensions,” – said in a communiqué issued on Friday evening in Brussels.

The representative of the EMU, recalled that at the last meeting of the EU Council on foreign Affairs noted that “such actions of the DPRK pose a serious threat to international peace and security.”

In the European Union expect the DPRK to urgently and unconditionally implement their obligations under all relevant UN security Council resolutions and start a credible and meaningful dialogue aimed at achieving complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula .

“The European Union stands ready to support this process in consultation with key partners,” – said in a statement.

The representative of the EBU also reported that the head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini will discuss the issue in coming days with the foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea and other international partners, in particular, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional forum Ministerial in Manila on 6 and 7 August.
