Potential sanctions against Russia from the United States can influence the construction of the gas pipeline “Nord stream – 2”.

This opinion was voiced by Vice-President of the European Commission on energosoiuz Maros Sefcovic. He gave an interview to RIA “Novosti”, reports “Russian conversation”.

According to him, it is necessary to coordinate with Washington in the matter before sanctions are gaining momentum.

“We tell our American partners that this is a sensitive issue, so it should be discussed with us,” said Sefcovic.

We will remind, the capacity of “Nord stream – 2” can reach 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Resources will be transported through the waters of the Baltic sea from coast of Russia to the German border. The project will be implemented in close proximity to another “Nord stream” .

Previously, “Russian Dialogue” conveyed that the United States government exerts some pressure on the EU about what they say in diplomatic circles of Europe. This is due to the fact that “Nord stream – 2” is in competition for supplies of American gas.
