The Ministry of Finance in favour of reducing to 25% the number of students in higher education institutions who receive academic scholarships in 2018, said Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko.
“In 2017, the percentage of scholars reduced to 40-45%, i.e. from 40% to 45% of the students receive at the moment scholarship. We intend to 2018 to reduce the proportion to 25%,” said Sergei Marchenko edition VoxConnector.
Thus, according to him, by 2020 it is planned to reduce the percentage of students who receive academic scholarships of up to 15% of the total. However, the amount of scholarships will increase to the level of subsistence level, and then zoom in to the level of the minimum wage.
“I’m not saying that it’s earnings, but it should be a normal a comfortable living”, – said the Deputy Minister.
At the same time as have informed Agency “Interfax-Ukraine” the press service of the Ministry of education and science, they had not received relevant proposals from the Ministry of Finance, and discussions about the possibility of reducing the number receiving academic scholarships to 25% in 2018 was carried out.
