Rescuers need a few more days to extinguish the smoldering after a fire in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. This was announced by the Chairman of the Antimonopoly Nikolai Chechetkin the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on a conference call, according to the website of OP.

Yesterday the situation has worsened due to heavy wind, as the fire was difficult to control. SES sent a greater amount of equipment and personnel to the fire. Rain helped firefighters deal with the situation faster.

“Yesterday fire aircraft flew 227 sorties were used 500 tons of water. Background radiation in the exclusion zone is normal and is not increased,” – said Chechetkin.

Simultaneously with the extinguishing of the fire in the Chernobyl zone of the SES did not allow the transfer of fire to military depots, munitions, object “Shelter”, “Vector”, a distribution power station of Chernobyl, and storage of radioactive waste.
