TASS, may 11. Defender of Brazilian football and the French PSG Dani Alves will not be able to participate in the world championship of 2018 which will pass in Russia. About it reports a press-service of the Brazilian football Confederation.
Alves was injured may 8 in the final match of the French Cup, in which PSG beat “Les Herbiers” with the score 2:0. The defender was substituted in the 86th minute.
On Thursday, the 35-year-old footballer underwent a medical examination which revealed damage to the anterior cruciate ligament. The defender will need surgery.
Alves plays for Brazil in 2006. In the national team he spent 106 matches and scored seven goals.
The world championship will be held from 14 June to 15 July at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia. Brazil will play in group E with the teams of Switzerland (Rostov-on-don, June 17), Costa Rica (Saint Petersburg, June 22) and Serbia (Moscow, stadium “Spartak”, June 27) .
