Frigate “La Fayette” (“La Fayette”) of the Naval forces of the French Republic, arrived in Odessa with a friendly visit on Friday.
As reported by the press center of Command of the Ukrainian Navy, the French Navy held a formal meeting in the command of the Ukrainian Navy in the Odessa regional administration and Odessa city Council.
In turn the French ship was visited by the commander of naval forces of Ukraine Vice-Admiral Igor Voronchenko, met there with the Ambassador of France in Ukraine Isabelle Dumont, attaché of defense at the Embassy of the French Republic in Ukraine Christian Bartleson and the commander of the ship captain 1st rank by Stanislas Delatta.
“The program of the visit, which will last until April 3, also provides training for damage control aboard the ship of the frigate “La Fayette” for personnel of the naval forces of Ukraine, sightseeing tour of the city”, – noted in press service .
As reported, from 17 to 20 March in the port of Odessa came four ships of the connection of the standing naval mine countermeasures group, NATO, No. 2 (SNMCMG2).
The frigates of the “La Fayette” (La Fayette class FL-3000) – series frigates with guided missiles. The frigate has a displacement of 3.6 thousand tons, 125 meters long and 15.4 meters wide. Maximum speed – 25 knots and has a range of 4 thousand nautical miles. The crew of 164 people. Armed frigate 100-mm gun mount, two 20 mm anti-aircraft guns, 8 anti-ship missiles. The frigate also carries one helicopter.
In the French Navy consists of five ships of this type, the first in the series the ship was launched in 1996 and was given the name “La Fayette”.
