The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has prolonged the terms of use of radio-analog television broadcasting until March 30, 2018.

The relevant government resolution No. 563 published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“The government decided on a phased shutdown of analog television broadcasting, the deadline is 30 March 2018 with a view to preventing violations of the rights of citizens to free access to information”, – stated in the explanatory note to the document.

According to him, this decision will allow for a comprehensive information campaign on the connection of the population to digital networks and to expand the coverage of the territory of Ukraine digital signal.

As reported, this issue was discussed at the government meeting on 4 July, and was originally proposed to extend the analog broadcasting for a year – until 30 July 2018 .

The head of the State service for special communications and information protection Leonid Yevdochenko explained that, according to the NCCIR, today there are a number of unresolved financial and socio-economic problems that hinder development of such a procedure and the process of transition from analogue to digital TV.
