PYEONGCHANG /South Korea/, March 18. /TASS/. Russian athletes in the neutral status of Paralympic athletes has shown remarkable spirit in difficult conditions at the Paralympic games in Pyeongchang. Such opinion to journalists at a press briefing, said President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Andrew Parsons.

“I think they showed amazing spirit. It’s really hard when you can’t represent your country. When you win a medal, but can’t sing your national anthem. But of course, it’s a long story,” said Parsons.

Also the head of the IPC noted that during the Paralympics, the Russians didn’t any conflicts. “I think that in the circumstances they behave very well, but others behave well towards them . I asked our people in the village, they are not aware of any problems or grievances received from the delegation of Paralympic athletes neutral or against them. This is a positive sign, it shows maturity, I’m very satisfied,” – said the President of the IPC.

Russian Paralympic Committee (RCC) is deprived of membership in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) at the Games in Pyeongchang the Russians are under a neutral flag in a truncated format. The games in Pyeongchang will end March 18th, the closing ceremony of the Paralympic games will be held on Sunday.

Compete in Pyeongchang 30 Russian athletes and six presenters who help athletes with visual impairment. Russian athletes currently have won 24 medals (eight gold, 10 silver, six bronze) and occupy the second place in the medal standings. The leader of team USA, which is represented by 68 athletes, the assets of Americans 35 medals (12-15-8), the third coming Canadians (55 athletes), on account of which 25 medals (8-2-15).
