Naval base of France in Abu Dhabi (UAE) will host the headquarters of the established European mission to ensure navigational safety in the waters of the Persian Gulf, said the Minister of defence of France, Florence Parlee.
“This morning we took a formal decision that the commanders (mission – if) will host in the UAE,” lead the Western media her words, told reporters at this base in Abu Dhabi.
According to her, the headquarters will be staffed by approximately a dozen representatives of countries participating in the coalition. The Minister also thanked the UAE for their support to this European initiative.
While parley mentioned another coalition created by the USA to ensure the security of the Persian Gulf. She said that both the coalition will coordinate their actions in this area of the world.
Earlier it became known that the international coalition led by the US plans in November to start patrolling the Persian Gulf. The reason for this was the detention by Iran on July 19 tanker Stena Impero. After that, the United States urged other countries to unite for the protection of the courts. The coalition joined Britain and several other countries.
In turn, the idea of the European mission were first announced in July, the main party of the mission is France. At the same time, mass media remind, some European countries have expressed fears that another coalition – under the auspices of the United States – will only increase tensions between Washington and Tehran.
