MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The preservation of internal architectural appearance of the pavilion №1, exhibition center in the form in which it reached our time, will be the main task of the restorers. This decision was taken at a meeting of the scientific-methodical Council of the Department of cultural heritage of Moscow.

“In preparation for this restoration, we will be guided by the presumption of continuity of all that has reached our time, and the elements of the original painting, the whole range of artistic means, which was here omitted, may be present in one of the rooms as a Museum exposition”, – said the Chairman of the Board, Deputy General Director of the FSI “the State historical and cultural Museum-preserve “the Moscow Kremlin” Andrey Batalov.

He said that in the pavilion №1 can be placed a small Museum of the pavilion. “If you ask desire to restore completely the whole interior, which was here at the inauguration, we lose that Roman feeling that there is now. And would it be possible refers to the monumental propaganda that was here detached, especially in the centenary year of the October revolution?”, – said Batalov.

He reported that the working group will be created to monitor the restoration of the pavilion. “I fully support the proposal to establish a permanent working group that will provide scientific and methodological assistance in the restoration of this object,” – said the expert.

The Chairman of the Council of the Department of cultural heritage said that in connection with preparation for the commencement of works in the pavilion № 1, exhibition center there was “a real opportunity to identify approaches to restoration of Soviet architecture”. “Even 20 years ago it was nothing valuable. Over the past decade, we are opening it again, trying to abstract from these rationales that are behind it,” he added.

The Central Pavilion

Pavilion №1 “Central” was built in the years 1950-1954 under the project of architects Yu. V. Schuko and E. V. carpenter. The height of the pavilion with a spire is 97 meters, and the total area – 3500 square meters. Composition, the external appearance of the pavilion refer to the monuments of the Russian Empire and reminiscent of the tower of the St. Petersburg Admiralty. Currently, the pavilion is the object of cultural heritage of Federal importance.

Scientific-methodical Council under the Moscow’s Department is a collegial body for scientific and methodological support of the Department’s activities in the field of preservation, use, popularization and gosohrany of cultural heritage on the territory of the capital. The Council consists of 50 leading scientists and specialists.

For three years it has been 100 meetings at which were discussed the concept of the restoration of the Ostankino estate, recreating the lost paintings in the bell tower of Novospassky monastery, conservation of the buildings of the estate Pokrovskoe, the Polytechnic Museum and inclusion in the state register of objects of cultural heritage ensemble of the Moscow circular railway, the tenements of count Sheremetev and many other issues.
