The Mayor Of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca

The head of the Moldovan capital faces up to 22 years of imprisonment.

The Moldovan Prosecutor Dmitry Rob reported that the mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, held in the case of paid Parking lots, brought new charges, RIA Novosti reported.

We will remind, Chirtoaca was detained may 25, in the case of pay Parking. The next day the district court of Kishinev has made the decision to put the capital’s mayor under house arrest for 30 days.

“Another charge, he put forward on July 12. Now we are talking about two crimes – benefit from impact and passive corruption. Both are in serious shape,” said Rob.

According to the Prosecutor, he did not make any statements. The Prosecutor noted that the new charge is connected with a bribe in especially large sizes for the implementation of the project, without specifying other details.

Previously, he was threatened from three to seven years in prison . Because now the case is considered on two counts, according to the local law, the maximum sentence can be increased to 22 years of imprisonment.

In Chisinau detained high-ranking officials

Earlier it was reported that in Moldova employees of the National centre for combating corruption jointly with the public prosecutors on fight against corruption 12 people were detained for 72 hours. Among the arrested were three mayors, four Directors of schools from different parts of the country, and also heads of five companies.
