In the first round of Russian-Japanese negotiations on joint management of the disputed Kurile island ridge, the sides exchanged their proposals and projects, and have reached the first agreement on the implementation of one of them.

As reported by Japanese news Agency Kyodo, citing sources in Japanese diplomacy, the Russian side was satisfied with the proposal to allow Tokyo to the Japanese, had lived in the Kuril Islands , to freely visit the island, according to “Russian conversation”.

Now Japanese citizens to visit the Kurils will be enough only aviasport, and the agreement will be the first that will be implemented in the context of the Russia-Japan joint economic activities on the Islands.

In addition, in the framework of the negotiation process the representatives of Russian and Japanese diplomacy, exchanged their proposals and projects for the management of the South Kuril ridge Islands.

As previously reported, “Russian conversation”, March 18 in Tokyo at the level of ministries of foreign Affairs of Russia and Japan held the first round of talks on joint management of the disputed Kuril Islands. Japan claims the southern Kuril Islands — Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan and Habomai archipelago.
