MOSCOW, may 22. /TASS/. The Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation supported the draft of the first domestic electric car on solar panels (“santamobile”), developed by the team Polytech Solar at Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University Peter the Great (Spbpu). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry.

As explained TASS the head of the Polytech Solar Evgeny Zagrebaev, at this stage, the Ministry of industry and trade provides information support, including Fund-raising.

According to Zahlebaeva contained in the message of Ministry of industry and trade, the concept of the unique “santamobile” built to participate in the two major world Championships: Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia in 2017 and 2018 American Solar Challenge in the United States .

“We will become the first team to represent Russia in this kind of competition and actually open our country a new kind of passenger road transport,” he explained.

However, the technology of converting solar energy into a fuel for cars in the future may find practical. The developers believe that this type of transport will be in demand in Russia, particularly Krasnodar region and other regions, where a large number of Sunny days per year.

The project on creation of domestic “santamobile” was launched in may of 2016. The car has received the name of SOL, the electrical energy it receives from solar panels installed on the roof. The main advantage is the possibility of Autonomous charging while moving.

Case “santamobile” is made of composite materials. Weight not exceeding 200 kg, maximum speed – 150 km/h.

Presentation ready “santamobile” is expected in July.
