The Ministry of energy and coal industry justified the new formula a fixed price for natural gas for the population until 1 April 2018.
According to the Ministry on the social network Facebook, the necessary changes to the decree №187 of 22 March 2017 will be submitted for consideration of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“According to the proposed Ministry the calculation of the price of gas for the period from 1 October 2017-1 April 2018 will be 5223,06 UAH without VAT, which is only 5.6% more than the current price. Since the calculated price does not exceed 10% of the current price, there is no reason for revising for the heating season in 2017-2018”, – noted in the message .

Today under the current formula calculates the value of the price of gas at the level of import parity in the period from 1 October 2017-1 April 2018, is for 12 calendar months before the month of calculation (June 2016 – may 2017), and the Ministry proposes to change the period of April 2016 – October 2016 and April 2017 – July 2017 that will allow you to avoid price changes.
“The current price of natural gas at the level of UAH 4942 (where the trade mark of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” is 93 UAH 1,917%) allows the NAC to fully realize the performance of its special duties, does not lead to losses and does not require additional subsidies and compensations from the state budget”, – believe in the Ministry.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 187 of March 22, 2017, provides for a correction in the price of gas supplied under special obligations (to the population and heating companies) depending on changes of prices on the European hub.
The calculations of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” show that according to the formula laid down in the decision of the Cabinet, the price of gas since October, is expected to grow by approximately 19%.
However, the Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine in the term established by legislation has not released new prices.
Against the increase of gas prices for population made by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman. According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers leads the discussion with the International monetary Fund (IMF), which proves the absence of grounds for increasing the price of natural gas for the population.
This week, the Ukrainian delegation holds the talks with the IMF in Washington.
