VYBORG /Leningrad region/, August 4. /TASS/. The Ministry of culture in 2019 plans to launch a program of restoration of small historical cities of Russia. On Saturday he told reporters the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky.

“We hope [to launch a program of reconstruction of small historic cities] in 2019. It’s five or six cities: Vyborg, Suzdal, Chistopol in Tatarstan and a number of other”, – said the Minister. According to him, the program was coordinated the last six years and is designed for 5-6 years.

Medina did not name a total sum of financing of the program, but noted that only in Vyborg will be allocated about $50 million the Ministry expects that 90% of the funds will be borrowed and 10% of the Federal budget. A project designed to increase the attractiveness of the cities plan to implement with the New development Bank (BRICS ).

Starting date in each city will depend on the readiness of the design-budget documentation. “In Vyborg will be easier to start, here are the projects ready,” said Medina. According to the Governor of Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko, on Vyborg prepared documents for 12 projects.

In may, the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation with reference to the Medina reported that the New development Bank (BRICS) decided on the allocation of $220 million for the implementation of the project “Preservation and development of small historic towns and settlements”. Funds for the restoration of monuments and upgrading the urban infrastructure will receive nine cities: Torzhok, Vyborg, Ust-Kut, Chistopol, Suzdal, Rostov, Staraya Russa, Valday and Tutaev.
