The Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine in 2018, and considers its main tasks of privatization, attraction of global investors, the maximum introduction of digital infrastructure, said the head of Department Vladimir Omelian in interview to Agency “Interfax-Ukraine”.
“Less questions, but which are very important: a transparent appointments, updating teams on those strategic areas where it is really needed in the first place, on the railroad, and of roads they need to build,” – said the Minister.
He also noted the presence of changes on the roads, ASD, “Ukrpochta”.
“By rail there is a problem, and I think that the company that generates 5% of GDP, should work like a Swiss watch. While this watch is in a private collection,” – said Vladimir Omelian.
He also stressed that there are many interesting projects that can be started within the next year .
“Ahead of the resounding victory – the construction of the Beskid tunnel, which is at least twice will increase the capacity of the railway in this direction. Work is continuing to attract global investors, in particular, modernization of the rolling stock of Ukrzaliznytsia. “Ukrzaliznytsya” has finally reached agreement on key terms of a long-term partnership with the American Corporation General Electric,” said he.
The Minister said that next year the company will supply 30 of the locomotives in the framework of the renewal of rolling stock and highlighted the fact that we are talking about the production in Ukraine.
“In the development of projects for the construction of locomotives in the country are also interested in the canadian company Bombardier and French Alstom. Negotiations with the German side on the transfer of used diesel trains, which will completely renew rolling stock used on non-electrified sections of commuter traffic. We will have brand quality rolling stock and believe that the German trains are significantly better than what we have today even after modernization,” – said Vladimir Omelian.
