Talks between the delegations of the USA and the radical Afghan Taliban in Doha have been suspended in connection with the inter-Afghan peace conference, reported on Saturday, representatives of two parties.

“We are suspending talks today to support the intra-Afghan dialogue (intra-Afghan conference in the world), the most important milestone in the Afghan peace process, – wrote on Saturday evening on his Twitter account, US special representative for peace in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad. There is still important work to be done before we achieve harmony. We will resume 9 (July), on the basis of dialogue.”

“The last six days of talks were the most productive. We have made significant progress in all four parts of the peace agreement: the guarantee of counter-terrorism, withdrawal of troops, the participation in the intra-Afghan dialogue and negotiations, as well as a permanent, comprehensive ceasefire,” said Khalilzad.

Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman in Doha, Shaheen Suhayl wrote in his Twitter that “the talks continued today in a special group.” “The negotiations are suspended on 7 and 8 July in connection with the intra-Afghan conference and will resume on July 9. We are satisfied with the progress and hope that other items will be determined in the near future. Until we are faced with a serious obstacle,” said Sahin.

Press Secretary of the Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid issued a statement on behalf of the movement, in which he noted that a delegation of Taliban is headed by the head of the political office in Qatar Sher Mohammad Stanekzai.
