Germany will continue to assist in the resolution of the conflict in the East of Ukraine. The new German government believes that the UN peacekeeping mission will help to resolve the conflict.

The settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is impossible without the involvement of the UN mission. This is stated in the draft coalition agreement between the conservative Alliance of the CDU/CSU of Angela Merkel and the social Democrats, said on Tuesday, February 6, the newspaper Rheinische Post.

The agreement States that Germany and France will continue to make efforts to resolve the conflict in the East of Ukraine and implementation of Minsk agreements.

“These efforts are aimed at observance of the cease-fire in Eastern Ukraine and withdrawal of heavy weapons and armed units from this area . These events must be supported by the UN mission”, — stated in the draft Treaty.

Also emphasized that Russia and Ukraine should fulfil its commitments under the Minsk agreements.

We will remind, the Minister of foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian for a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin called for the placement of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas.
